Dang! I just installed 1.5 and now if Use Headline is 0 it works fine, but if I set Use Headline to 1 (my primary reason for wanting this hack) I get nothing.

Even if I run it straight from the browser address (instead of SSI).

Any ideas?

lol its amazing how little a thing can make a big problem. Just download the new updated zip, i just uploaded it 1.5, and upload ubb_active_topics.cgi

v1.5 now works fine, but there's a problem.

The "» Today's Active Topics «" thing still exists on the front page, but if you try to click it then it now gives the ubb6 'page doesn't exist' error.

Can't we just swap the new active topics system with the old link above? If so, where and how?

Also, how do you output the latest posts via SSI in this new system. The SSI output for external pages is what made the old system so worth using over UBBs own system.

humm JM, in your intruction, you said need to upload 8 files in, but on your zip file, there only 7 files

BTW - I'm not sure what the etiquette protocol is here. I modified your hack to display:

• read more (which you already had)
• post a comment
• posters name
• a link to the forum
• and display the first 75 characters of the post

Is it considered bad manners to hack a hack? If so I apologize.

The new update still doesn't get rid of "»Active Topics«" on ultimatebb.cgi. It doesn't link it into the new active topics thing either.

Also, what of the SSI output issue?

Hey Jigga, I have a problem. I am assuming this is planned behavior, but when there are no active topics for the day, it prints the whole page layout with the regular UBB header, footer, etc...

If you go to my page ( BlizzardRealms.com ), this is a problem because of the way I have my Headlines set up.

Can you tell me what I have to do to get rid of the whole UBB layout and still have only some wording that says "no active topics today" or something?

Heya!

The hosting of the image is not the problem, it's the size of the file. It takes quite a bit of load time for those visiting this topic or others for the first time via any dialup. Future times it may be cached depending upon how large a user keeps his cache.

The size of your sig (45k) is huge for a sig button, so please consider those with slower connections when using an image in your signatures.

Personally it doesn't effect me, because I use a cablemodem.

Yeah v1.6 fixed the problem.

Also, not all of us wish to use the default SSI list output and so what files should I edit in order to make my separate SSI page output look how I want it to?

Also, would it be possible to add some extra commands like in the original script. Namely so we could do things like putting post No.'s, post time's, dates (different styles) and most importantly - post preview (No. characters).

Sorry if I'm being dumb and they're already in, there's so many files now that it's very confusing.

Got it working but it is missing the lower half after the topics are shown. It shows the topics but page just stops to a white background. It does not show the additional topics at the bottom like yours.

that just means you have no more topics then the ones which are on that page...it lists the posts per day, unlike the old one!

That's the error message I got on my Headlines after I upgraded to 1.7. [EDIT] And I only get that when there are no active topics for the day. Once I posted something, it went back to normal. [/EDIT]

Haven't tried v1.7 yet, I'll wait for v1.8 =).

Just incase you don't know JM, we all really love this addon and the work you're putting into it!

A couple more suggestions (if not already implemented):

1) SSI Output for filtered forums(like in the original, you can output active topics for specific forums).

2) Ability to output active topics via SSI for more than one specific forum (using above). With the original you had to install one active.CGI for every specifically filtered forum/output.

Generally I use 1 and 2 above on my site under the original version, they're very useful for integrating specific forum content around the site itself.

If you can do them then that'd mean an end to my pestering =).

My footer does not show

i have install the active topic 1.7 and i have an error :

have you tied clearing cache...and filling in all the datas?

yeah i get the same thing, after going from 1.2 to 1.7 that is what i get
